The children in the Early Years Foundation Stage are encouraged to learn through play and exploration, through being active, creative and thinking critically. The staff aim for the children to be inspired by their experiences; motivated by stimulating environments and equipment; fully engaged in their learning and, ultimately, to be empowered to continue to explore and learn themselves, independently. This is managed through carefully planned lessons and activities and opportunities for adult-led and adult- directed sessions as well as ample opportunity for child-initiated learning.
Acorns and Oaks are a fabulous class full of motivated, friendly and hard working children. We enjoy a lively environment where children are inquisitive and keen to explore. Children are encouraged to talk about their learning and we begin on an exciting learning journey. We are always reflecting on our ‘next steps’ and considering how we can squeeze the learning out of every opportunity.
- PE takes place on a Tuesday and a Friday.
- Reading takes place throughout the week. Books will be introduced as your children start to access phonics. We will change these books once a week on a Monday.

How You Can Help Your Child at Home
There are lots of simple ways to support your child's learning at home:
- Read with your child at least three times a week.
- Practise and talk about the phonics sounds they are learning in school.
- Make use of your child's Phonics Bug login to access reading and phonics activities ActiveLearn: Login
- Play games together that encourage speaking, listening, counting, and problem-solving skills.
- Have lots of conversations about their day, their interests, and the world around them.
- Most importantly, have fun learning together!

Welcome Back to School!
We are excited to welcome the children who are moving up from Acorns Preschool to join us in Oaks Class, as well as offering a warm welcome to any new children and families joining our school community. We would also like to welcome back our returning Acorns children and families for another exciting year in Preschool.
We are looking forward to spending time with you, getting to know you better, and learning together throughout the year.
This term, the children in Oaks will be settling into school life, building new friendships, and learning our classroom routines. We will be exploring topics such as our families, our community, and the people who help us. There will be lots of opportunities for learning through play, creativity, exploration, and discovery.
We can't wait to begin this exciting journey together and look forward to a fantastic term ahead!
