As role models for younger children, Redwoods take their whole school responsibilities seriously; they are expected to model excellent behaviour, a positive attitude towards school and learning, and take pride in their work at all times.
Learning in Redwoods is engaging and challenging. Redwoods children are exposed to a variety of teaching styles which ensure all children are excited and enthused in their learning, make the maximum possible progress while also developing independence.
Mr Abraham teaches Redwoods.
PE lessons are every Thursday with Mrs Bamber (PE teacher). Â
Please ensure that PEÂ kit is worn to school on these days.
Homework is designed to encourage independence. Our expectations are as follows:
- Reading on a daily basis (minimum of 15 minutes per day)
- Spellings taken from the Y5/6 and/or Y3/4 list (follow links below)
- Times Tables practice - this should include at least 15 x 1 minute sessions on TT Rock Stars (children all have their unique user ID and password which can be used to access from home)
- Project learning themed around our termly topic where the children will be able to choose from a range of activities designed to take their learning out of the classroom.

Redwoods Parent Update - 17th November 2025
In English, we are learning how to write instructional texts using Stefan Gates’s ‘Incredible Edibles’ book as a model. In maths, we are learning how to add and subtract fractions with different denominators. In geography, we have been learning about the Earth’s features including latitude, longitude, meridians and time zones. In science, we are learning about forces and motion. In computing, we are learning about selection in quizzes using Scratch.Â
Well done to our Star of the Week, Brody, who has shown a positive growth mindset in his maths learning. Another well done to Reuben, who was awarded the Random Act of Kindness for supporting his classmates with patience.
Students should be doing the following for home learning:
- At least 30 minutes of reading daily, noted in the Reading Record and signed by an adult
- At least 3 x 10 minute practice sessions on TT Rockstars using ‘Garage’ mode OR maths.co.uk practice if their TTRS heatmap is already dark green.
- Spelling practice using the ‘Look Say Cover Write Check’ paper
Please remind and support your children to be doing all of the above. The development of these self-management skills are very important not just for their learning but for their transition to secondary school.
Have a great week,
Mr. Abraham
